When it comes to wakestyle kiting Sam, 31, is as successful as they come, with four Triple-S titles and two Kite Park League championships to his name. In 2009 his international career was projected off the back of the first of two British Freestyle titles during one of the most competitive periods in the much respected national competition scene.
As well as being arguably kiteboarding’s best cable crossover rider, Sam also has a Red Bull King of the Air third place medal from 2013.
Sam is also the Slingshot Kiteboarding International Team Manager.
So where does he find enjoyment in foiling; surely an altogether more pedestrian activity? The answer lies in its accessibility, similarities to skateboarding, but most of all, open water adventure, as you’ll hear in this video interview, which focuses largely on the experience of his 75 mile solo circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight in 2020.
