How many handle-passes?! GKA Freestyle World Cup Gran Canaria

Romain Giuliano GKA Gran Canaria

34 riders, 25 men and nine women, arrived at Playa de Vargas on Wednesday to register for the GKA Freestyle World Cup Gran Canaria. Thursday was the first full day of competition and it looks like the action will wrap up on today (Friday).

Gran Canaria was scheduled on the calendar as an ‘open’ format, meaning that the judging criteria will adjust according to the conditions at this second round of the GKA Kite World Tour’s freestyle division; should the wind go over 25 – 30 knots, then the competition will move towards a more extreme big air format.

Thursday’s winds never peaked above 25 knots so the format remained 100% freestyle, but check out some of the height and distance these freestyle riders get in their tricks when they go down to spin-city and handle-pass heaven! You’ll need a sit down and maybe grab a stiff drink after watching this… but it is Friday after all!
