The Action Cruise run Kite & Sail Camps in some of the most picturesque kiting locations on the planet from Sardinia to the Greek Cyclades and the Caribbean. They’ve got some awesome adventures coming up throughout the whole year. Here’s a few highlights from their upcoming kite and sail schedule should watch out for.

 

SARDINIA AND SOUTH CORSICA

Setting sail from Cannigione Costa Smeralda in the northeast of Sardinia and sailing to the Bonifacio region in the south of Corsica, you’ll kite and sail through the breathtaking archipelago of La Maddalena which consists of the islands Caprera, Budelli, Razzoli and Santa Maria which are peppered with awesome, tucked away kite spots. From there, it’s on to the Strait of Bonifacio with the Lavezzi and Cavallò Islands and even more exclusive kiting locations in Corse with the kind of azure blue Mediterranean waters that dreams are made of.

Conditions

The mistral wind blows from the north west between 15 and 35 knots and when they aren’t on you’ll get regular big kite / foiling weather in the thermal easterlies which average between 12 and 20 knots. Water temperatures are pleasant, and you won’t need thicker than a 3/4mm suit.

The boat

The cruise takes place on Nautitech 46 Flybridge with 3 crew members managing sailing, kiting and full board service. This includes a skipper, kite instructor and hostess who will organise all of your meals. The crew will take drone shots of your sessions, you can go SUPing and they can rent you kites, foils or a strapless board if you need one.

The catamaran is a modern, comfortable boat with the added luxuries of a water maker and heating system to ensure you’ll always have a warm shower available. You can also enjoy the incredible ocean views from the flybridge.

On the Cyclades adventure you’ll meet the Action Cruise team in Paros in Greece before setting sail for seven days through yet more dreamy blue Mediterranean waters, navigating around just some of the 220 islands that make up the island chain. There are countless flat water spots, many of them on secluded islands that can only be reached by boat and you’re more or less guaranteed to have the majority of them entirely to yourself!

Paros, Antiparos, Small Cyclades, Mykonos, Rinia, Milos and other secret spots are all on offer. If the Meltemi is off, it is possible to sail to Peloponnese to catch the West Wind.

After a full day of kiting, in the evenings you can explore and experience the classic blue and white villages that dot each island and enjoy the amazing sunsets and excellent food that’s served in the local tavernas.

Conditions

In summer, the Meltemi trades are strong and reliable, providing endless days of kitesurfing between the islands. The Meltemi blows from north between 15 and 30 knots but even when Meltemi doesn’t come in there’s usually at least 12-15 knots for foiling or freeriding on bigger kites.

The water is warm, but a 3/2 wetsuit or at least a decent quality shortie is worth having to keep the windchill off when the Meltemi really blows through.

The boat

The catamaran is modern and comfortable and equipped with a water maker, auxiliary generator, AC when there is no breeze in the marina, foil board, SUPS and a dinghy from which the crew provide safety cover when you’re out on the water (you can even do a bit of wakeboarding off the back of it!) You can also enjoy the incredible ocean views from the flybridge.

Each cruise takes place with 3 crew members; a skipper, kite instructor and a chef who’ll keep you fuelled up with full board service available including all meals and snacks.

As with the cruises around Sardinia, there’s equipment for hire on board should you need it.

GRENADINES & ANTIGUA – DATES TBC

From December to April, The Action Cruise also run adventures in The Grenadines, Antigua and Bahamas. More details to be released later in the year or sign up to the newsletter HERE to receive information when it’s released.

The cruise takes in some of the Caribbean’s most iconic kite spots, including the legendary Union Island, on the Grenadines cruise. You’ll stay in a double room on the Action Cruise’s modern, tricked-out catamaran. Throughout the trip, you’ll go seeking out mind bending flat water spots and freeriding conditions around the remote atolls, sandbars, bays and cays that dot the islands.

 

 

Conditions

The best months for kiting are when the trade winds blow between December and June when it’s windy 90% of the time, averaging 15 to 22 knots. The average wind speed drops to 12 to 18 knots from July to August and it’s slightly less consistent with wind on 50 to 60% of days. From then until Christmas the wind gets lighter and less frequent, before building up again up towards the start of the high season in January. You won’t need a wetsuit, just sunscreen and swimwear!

 

The Boat

You’ll sail on a luxury catamaran with safety boat support, air conditioning, water maker, drone videos, snorkelling sets and more all included. If you need to hire some gear then the crew can sort you out and lessons and coaching can also be provided by Duotone Pro Rider Jeremie Tronet when sailing close to Union Island. 

There is also now a hostess on board, as with their Sardinian and Greek cruises, who’ll organise all your meals as well!

MORE ABOUT ACTION CRUISE

Action Cruise welcome kiters of all levels with instruction available for beginners and improvers. Lessons are taught one-to-one in English or Italian by IKO instructors using BBTalkin helmets.  Photo & video analysis coaching provided at the end of the day. The boats come fully equipped with the latest gear from North Kiteboarding and is available for hire for independent riders.
