Red Bull King of the Air 2021: Postponed

Red Bull King of the Air 2021

Some sad but fairly inevitable news given the rampant new strain of Covid-19 that’s reported to be peaking in South Africa as well as Europe; today the official confirmation came that the Red Bull King of the Air is postponed – scheduled forward to the end of this year, in November / December ’21. Here’s what the initial announcement reports:

RED BULL KING OF THE AIR 2021

We currently find ourselves amidst a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa. The recent spike has resulted in various new regulations. Unfortunately included in this is full closure of all beaches in Cape Town.

It is highly uncertain when beaches will be reopened once again and when permissions to stage events will be available.

This has sadly left us with no choice but to postpone Red Bull King of the Air until Nov / Dec 2021. An announcement will be made in August on exactly when the next edition of Red Bull King of the Air will run.

We want to thank the kiting community and athletes for ongoing support and understanding during this global situation. We encourage everyone to listen to the medical advice and stay safe.

We look forward to taking to the skies with you again soon.

We will keep you posted on any further developments and wish all riders, organisers and our readers the best during these difficult times.
