Report posted: Thursday 19th August 2021
Pandemic pause, or no pandemic pause, Australian James Carew and France’s Capucine Delannoy continued their impressive display of improvement in competition performance as shown during the end of the last full season of GKA Kite World Tour competition in 2019 at this first event of 2021.
The event GKA Kite Surf World Cup in the iconic North Sea German island of Sylt delivered rolling, frothing ocean wind swells for the competitors to put together their best heats, with a combination of strapless freestyle and wave riding. Two days of intense competition on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th August was all it took to rattle through the main event stage of this tour stop.
The pivotal moment was surely when Brazilian Pedro Matos also came good on all the promise he’s shown climbing the ranks in recent seasons and beat Airton Cozzolino on the semi-finals. A huge moment in the young shredder’s career!
