The IKA KiteFoil GoldCup has expanded this year with five stops scheduled around the world. After coming to an agreement with World Sailing, the IKA has been awarded the right to appoint world champions in the foil racing discipline so, while many of the sport’s elite may be competing on both the KiteFoil GoldCup and the HydroFoil Pro Tour, the IKA’s tour is the one to win if you’re looking to be crowned world champion!
There’s a $200,000 prize purse which will be shared between the KiteFoil GoldCup and the TT:R Slalom Tour and $15,000 up for grabs at the first event in Boryeong, Korea, which takes place next month. There’ll also be mainstream T.V coverage at some of the events which is a major step for the foiling discipline and kiting in general.
