Kiting, SUP, windsurfing, live bands and epic craic are coming up this month!
And it’s happening on Achill Island, Mayo, Ireland – presented by Pure Magic and Mayo.ie!
THE biggest fixture of the Irish watersports calendar, every year kitesurfers, windsurfers, surfers and SUPers from Ireland and abroad come together for the Battle for the Lake on Achill Island. The Irish Kitesurfing Tour has its final event there and there’s epic conditions on-hand with a huge flat water lake and numerous wave spots to choose from. Former Kitesurf World Tours have visited Achill Island and with good reason!
What’s more though, the off-water antics are just as awesome! There’s 25 live bands across three stages, a comedy tent, bushcraft workshops, yoga classes, a kids disco, a fun fair, great food (and drink) and much more besides including the Burning Lake fireworks show on Saturday night! You can also camp on the event site so you’re never far from the action.
There’ll also be some pro kiters along for the craic with Ruben Lenten, Lasse Walker, Tom Bridge, Étienne Lhote, Steven Akkersdijk and Kevin Langeree all dropping into Achill Island to get stuck into the festivities and send some airs! They’ll be putting on a KOTA style big air display in a totally unique County Mayo setting and, if they get the conditions we saw in 2017, it should go off!
