Airton Cozzolino – a force to be reckoned with in Fuerte!

Matchu raises his winning teammate’s hand in true sportsmanship
After the quarter-finals played out in Sotavento, some of the highest scoring heats of the event followed in the semis. Keahi de Aboitiz was eventually defeated by Matchu Lopes, and Mitu Monteiro was taken out by Airton ‘Alien’ Cozzolino.
So, once again teammates Matchu and Airton found themselves in the final as they went head to head matching each other evenly on scores for the first minute or so. However, Matchu then seemed to lose connection stumbling on tricks he usually pulls off well, while Airton went into overdrive with a huge back roll double tick tack landing toeside!
Airton pushed harder delivering for the crowd before pulling out his trump card by landing a front shuvit back roll rodeo boogie loop (Paulino Pereira had landed the first ever strapless boogie loop the day before). It was all he needed to do for three of the judges to each score him a perfect 10 for technicality, variety and overall impression – the first time any athlete has scored so highly!
