HIGHLIGHTS THIS ISSUE INCLUDE
CONQUERING THE NORWEGIAN PLATEAUS
Michael Charavin and his buddy kited across the mountainous vistas of southern Norway in an epic multi-day feat of kite-randonneuring, kiting by day and spending the nights in remote refuge huts as they went. They covered some serious distance along the way and experienced a kind of freedom and movement in the mountains that could only have been achieved with a kite!
KAULI SEADI EXPLORES THE SOUTH PACIFIC
When Sebastian Doerr was invited by Brazilian waterman Kauli Seadi to come on a once in a lifetime boat trip through the islands of Polynesia he knew he had to heed the call! They sailed to remote atolls on their trip from Tonga to Fiji and sought the permission of local island chiefs to ride un-kited breaks along the way. It was a kite trip like no other!
FROM ZANZIBAR TO KILIMANJARO BY ANY MEANS
Jerrie van de Kop set out on an epic trip last year that saw him foil from the island of Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania before embarking on an epic cross-land trip to the base of Kilimanjaro powered solely by the wind. He then hiked up it and snowkited on the top – a world first! Read the story of Jerrie’s wind-powered adventure in KW 91.
NEUTRALISE YOUR FLIGHT IMPACT
Air travel is an intrinsic part of adventure for manyof us but the carbon cost of flying around the globe is hard to ignore. Some people would argue we shouldn’t fly at all to avoid deepening our individual carbon footprints but in issue 91, KW associate editor Matt Pearce outlines why flying may not really be the environmental demon we sometimes make it out to be. Get the full story in KW 91.
