These Things I Know
INTRO - 5 time World Champion and UK local lad Aaron Hadlow has been there and seen it all in the kitesurfing world... and that was way back in 2005 when he featured in issue #17's These Things I Know. He was only 16 then but was throwing down moves that were unheard of at the time, and in some cases are only just appearing on the kiting circuit now. Arguably one of the most influential kitesurfers the world has seen, Aaron tips from five years ago are still relevant today... although maybe not number six.
ONE - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given rather than explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact it is an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration it is a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
TWO - Bling is expensive.
THREE - Freestyle motor-cross is the most extreme sport, and hurts.
FOUR - Travelling the world is mad fun.
FIVE - Don’t miss your chance, you know you’ll regret it.
SIX - The new Sony Ericsson is the sickest phone.
SEVEN - Macs rule.
EIGHT - You must live for the moment and have the most fun possible, even if it costs.
NINE - If you drink Red Bull it’ll make my life easier.
TEN - Don’t think you’re better, just aim to be better.
ELEVEN - My life needs music.
TWELVE - I want a Ferrari, a yacht, a mansion, white gold, a mansion made of white Gold...
THIRTEEN - Life is a lesson you learn when it’s through. I’m only 16.
Aaron Hadlow is the reigning PKRA World Champion. The 16-year-old Brit lives in Cornwall, spends his winter in the cool waters of Cape Town, South Africa and currently leads this year’s competition after five events in a series of eight.
