| CATMAN AT 50 KNOTS - THINK ABOUT IT! In 1975 Tim Colman, skipper of Crossbow 3, went over 30 knots. In 1988 Eric Beale broke 30 knots on a windsurfer. For 20 years the dream has been 50 knots and the record has been over 46 knots since 1993. On 2 October 2008 Sebastian Cattelan finally broke 50 knots using a kite!!! And his record only lasted 24 hours. I have a soft spot for Catman - he taught me how to stay up wind in 1999. I'm gonna hunt out his number and get him to teach me speed. This could be his closest yet. Out of 10 events he won 6 and was 2nd in 4. Kevin Langeree won 4 and was 2nd in 4. As well as being world champion, Aaron has been at the fore-front of innovating new tricks and leading the direction in kitesurfing. There is no other rider that can claim to do better tricks, let alone in competition. He's got my GOAT vote! Not sure what a GOAT is? click here... For full results click here.
