197 entries at the 2012 Course Racing Worlds

After two days of registration and equipment measurement, racing will finally get underway today with the first official races. 153 men and 42 women will battle on the water for the 2012 racing world title.

In the mens fleet, racing will start with a qualifying series, with three groups of 51 sailors each which will be re-seeded then by the first racing days results before the fleet is split into Gold/Silver/Bronze for the final series day. In the womens fleet, a single opening series will be run over the first three days, followed by a medal race series on Sunday.

Yesterday saw four practice races, with up to 70 sailors on the line each, in perfect sailing conditions.
