40 centimetre thick ice with lots of snow are setting the perfect stage for the 2010 Snowkite World Championships in Reschensee, Italy.
Freestyle dominator's Bj?rn Kaupang and Kari Schibevaag from Norway are already registered and look set to compete along side an international fleet of competitors including riders from Italy, Austria and Germany. The event promises incredible action to spectators from Friday 29th January at noon over the weekend until Sunday the 31st.
German participants such as Markus Pompl and Armin van Seeler will be throwing down in the racing discipline alongside Swiss rider Roger Knechtle. Also keep your eyes peeled for 15 year old youngster Florian Gruber from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, who is already placed in the top ranks of international kitesurfing. The racing event will see riders complete up to four laps of a triangular shaped course at speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour. 70 to 100 kites will be flying high as the riders set off in one giant fleet, providing an eye catching display for anyone watching from the sidelines.
For visitors getting cold feet on the frozen lake, hot wine and a barbecue will be on offer to warm the crowds. Night entertainment will include a disco on the Saturday from 10pm in Reschen for all the riders and public.
