Samsung Snowkite Masters Gallery
The first snowkite event of the 2008/09 season took place on the 7th and 8th December in Obertauern, Austria. A great event with riders from countries all over Europe showed up to hit the rails and pop their latest tricks.
Although it was sunny, weak winds saw Johannes Schaschl win the Samsung rail session. It actually snowed Sunday and the wind picked up, so the snowkiters were able to show that Austria is a top destination in this winter sport.

International top ten kitesurfer Mike Schitzhofer surprised the snowkite scene by achieving second spot, while first place went to Heinar Brandstötter. Third place went to Martin Stobbe and surprisingly the reigning world champ, Oliver Palmer, was unable to qualify for the finals due to inconsistent wind conditions.
The final was spectacular - Sebastian Bubmann took the overall, second place went to Florian Gruber and third to Daniel Schur. The kitesurfers showed that they could offer as much style as the boarders. Obertauern once again proved to be the perfect venue for the snowkite event. Due not only to the great terrain but also because of the great night life.
