THE ULTIMATE OUTOORS ADVENTURE ? INDOORS!
The Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show returns to the NEC, Birmingham bringing the best of the outdoors, indoors. This year it will be supported by celebrity speakers from across Europe including Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE, British Climber Simon Yates and France's number one female mountaineer Catherine Destivelle. The 2009 event is outstanding value for money, showcasing four zones, with over 300 exhibitors and 25 different activities to try and do, all covered by the entry price of a ticket.
The Outdoors Zone: The centre piece of this zone will be the Trespass Air-Trail, an exhilarating high ropes course that finishes with an adrenaline-fuelled zip wire over the entire show. If you're coming for a relaxed day out then maybe the stunning Regatta Woodland Walk will be more your thing, featuring a podiatry clinic and demonstrations of the latest walking boot technology.
The Water Sports Zone: Brand new for this year is our unique Brushboarding simulator, offering visitors a realistic surfing experience, without the need to get wet. The 72,000 litre indoor pool returns for 2009 giving canoe and kayak enthusiasts the opportunity to try out the latest kit in situ. If you prefer sub aqua activities, the PADI Dive Village is the place to be, with SCUBA diving lessons and expert advice available throughout the show.
The Adventure Sports Zone: Bringing the wow factor to the NEC will be Britain's elite climbers, as they navigate an overhanging route 40 feet above the ground in the Ford SkyMasters competition, in association with Berghaus. This zone plays host to professionals from the world of Mountain Boarding and Mountain Biking, performing spectacular jumps and tricks in the Big Air and Bike Arenas. Visitors also have the chance to get down and dirty on Mountain Bikes with a custom built timber trail, surrounding the Bike Arena.
The Craghoppers Adventure Travel Zone: If you're planning a holiday, this is a one stop shop for all your travel needs, with overseas tour operators, activity providers, (and for the more daring) survival experts and bush craft demonstrations, all under one roof.
The show wouldn't be complete without a chill out area, so after a full day's activities the Jennings Cumberland Arms and Kerrang! Radio Outdoor Festival, complete with DJ's, are the perfect spots to kick back, relax and enjoy a well earned drink.
