The Animal Windfest returns to Dorset for its 12th consecutive year in 2010. Organisers of the event have already started planning 2009's successor, and a confirmation date of the 10th - 12th September has been set in stone at its spiritual home of Sandbanks in Poole.
An estimated 15,000 people attended the event last year and this year should attract even more. All of last years activities will be there to give you your adreniline kicks, long with so much more. Expect the kitesurfers to be throwing down some serious displays of athleticism along with other members of our extreme and active family including windsurfers, stand-up paddle-boarders, skateboarders, trial bikers, thundercat racers and volleyball players.
Exciting news on the kite scene is the return of the course racing competition, only this time it will be a part of the UK's national series which is sure to make the high level of competition even more lively than previous years.
Windsurfing's British National Freestyle Championships will also be returning after a few years in hiatus, so expect some of the biggest and best tricks in the business to be coming to UK shores!
Organiser, Gary Willingham, says: 'Obviously, we were really pleased with how last year's Animal Windfest went, but we're not ones to rest on our laurels. Every year we try to think of new and interesting ways to make the event even better.
'All our brainstorming sessions for the 2010 event get us more and more excited. Hopefully between now and 10 September the ideas will keep on flowing and Windfest fans will see an even more incredible show next time. I can't wait!'
Neither can we Gary... neither can we.
