77 Sports Management & iON Action Camers Kite & SUK Open massive success

Kites were in the air at Worthing's Goring Gap on Saturday, although this time with stand up paddleboards. This was the opening of the Kitesurfing and SUK event held by 77 Sports Management and iON Action Cameras www.iontheaction.co.uk Although the wind provided only a gentle breeze, the day became a perfect opportunity for competitors to take part in SUK racing, (kiting on a stand up paddle board), with kitesurfer Danny Morrice taking 1st place, Benj Arden 2nd and Gareth Piggott 3rd.

iON Action Cameras were fliming all the racing and will be uploading edits soon, check out their facebook page. To celebrate they are offering a FREE 8GB Micro SD card with purchases made online - just enter the code IONBAKER77

Boards and kites dominated the green, with hundreds of people weaving in between them. Worthing's Mayor and Mayoress officially opened the event and were given a tour around all the brands that sponsored the day. Many showed a huge interest in the sport, and took advantage of the taster sessions on all the latest equipment from Fanatic, RRD, Flexifoil, Best and iON Action Cameras, as well as the hot tub from Splash and Tickle to enjoy the sea view in.

The day's conditions also proved to be ideal for SUP racing, with kiters swapping their kites for paddles. As well as professionals competing, lots of amateur riders took part, resulting in the SUP racing splitting into an Amateur and Pro category. Kevin McGuire claimed 1st prize in the SUP Amateur slalom, with Charlie Kinross, 2nd and Peter Newell-Price taking 3rd. Jonathan Ellman-Bown received the 1st place trophy in the SUP Pro slalom, with Benj Arden in 2nd position, and Dave Donald 3rd Prizes for the winners were iON Action Cameras, Route 77 Energy drinks, ION-Essentials clothing from K66 distribution, protein from Reflex Nutrition, clothing and harness from RRD and Seasprite Sports, Tees from Flexifoil, Fanatic caps and some amazing trophies donated by South Coast Bathrooms.

It was a day for Worthing, and the wider community, to experience kiting, SUP racing, and to even enjoy a combination of the two with the SUK races. Whether it was on land with the demonstrations, or having a go out at sea, the day provided an incredibly successful platform for showcasing the watersports scene and for future watersports events in and around the Worthing area.
