2012 Camargue Kitespeed World Championships Day 1
Team USA has been waiting patiently in France for the Speed World championships to begin. Day one started with a bang as the wind was light but everyone was fired up to race.

The fleet was on big kites ranging from 12 meter to 17 meter kites. The wind was 12 to 18 knots. Not ideal for speed but good enough to start an event. As the wind started to fall off and change direction, the racers got in about an hour of racing.

The new rule which was passed a few days ago saying 3 men have to have two runs over 30 knots, to count it as an official race. Three racers Rob Douglas and Sylvain Hoceini and myself made it over 30 knots but it was not enough to make it a race so the leg was cancelled. Rob and myself were doing two times the wind speed in the light winds, with max speed of over 36 knots. Tomorrow is windy and early as everyone has to be there at 5:30am.....
Stay tuned as we have stronger wind forecasted for the AM.....
