| THE HYPE: Three shapes selected RRD's best selling freestyle board, the Poison, make up the Contest range. Using the same shape as the Poison LTD, the Contest is built for the pro rider looking for a technological edge. 25% lighter in weight and with increased stiffness, the Contest allows this freestyle rocket shape to become a killer weapon to plane faster, jump higher and generally ride harder. No compromise, if you want to improve your ride, this board is a sure shot. Constructed with full CNC laminar wood core and ABS side-walls snowboard technology. Laminated with Textra high modulus carbon fibres and micro-metric heat pressed 0.2 mm top and bottom sheet. TEST TEAM NOTES: When this board arrived in the office, the first thing that had to be done was to take a photo of it on my phone to show my mates and make them all jealous. It's a fabulous looking board and so thin! The rails are like a knife - you could decapitate someone with it! Unusual and beautifully made and finished to RRD's typical high standard. Fixtures and fittings are lovely with the RRD twist-on foot straps that can be mounted in just a couple of minutes without a screw driver and tighten up snugly around your foot and the comfortable pads are nice and grippy. We reckon that this actually has a bit more rocker than the silly-fast Poison, making this a tiny bit slower, but better in chop. It's still incredibly fast, but suitable for contests that take place in less than perfect conditions. Super light weight, this board feels lovely in the air. The weight is really noticeable and so easy to throw around and bone out. The riding has everything that a competitive freestyler is going to want from a board including incredibly stable, solid landings; the board just wants to push forward on top of the water. We would have liked to try the bigger size. This 133 is very stiff, and a bit more length would have helped. This size would really suit a lighter, athletic rider. SUMMARY: This must be one of the slickest, meanest looking boards on the market. Incredibly lightweight, the most outstanding thing is its thinness. It's like a razor and its performance is sharp and precise. We would have liked to try the bigger size though. Sub 70 kilo riders would be good on this. KW LIKED: Raw, aggressive stiffness and pop but in a board that can handle the lumps and bumps. KW WOULD CHANGE: This one was a bit small for us.
